The greenest collection is the one that does not happen

Every unnecessary collection is a truck that started, drove across the city, idled at a gate, lifted a container that was not full, and drove back. The fuel is burned and the emissions are released regardless of how much was in the bin. A single half empty collection is trivial. A fleet running fixed schedules across thousands of commercial sites, week after week, is not.

  • We size your site

We look at what your site produces, the space you have for containers and where a truck can safely access them. Getting this right at the start avoids most of the problems that surface later.

  • Your UBins arrive

Supplied and delivered at no cost, or using your existing bins, configured for your waste streams. No purchase, no lease, no capital tied up in containers.

  • Book when the bin is full

Request a collection through your account with 48 hours notice, or set a recurring schedule and change it yourself whenever your volumes shift.

  • An audited partner collects

Every operator on the UBin system is checked for compliance before registration. We hold the records and manage the relationship.

  • Everything lands in one invoice

Every collection, every site, every waste stream on a single monthly statement, with each line traced to a specific date.

From first call to first collection.

When a bin is full, you request a collection through your account. If your site is predictable, you can set a recurring schedule instead. Weekly, fortnightly, several times a week, monthly, or specific dates each month. The difference from a traditional contract is that you can change it yourself, whenever you like, as many times as you need. A business with a busy December and a quiet January should be paying accordingly.

Every stream.
One account.

Most sites end up with separate arrangements for general waste, recycling and anything specialised. Different operators, different invoices, different people to chase. UBin consolidates all of it into a single account and a single monthly statement.

What type of waste can UBin manage?

For waste streams that need a purpose built container, we supply the right one alongside your general waste bins, collected under the same account.

General Waste

Everything that cannot be recovered through another stream, collected in UBin front lift containers sized to suit your site.

Recycling

Commingled recycling, cardboard and paper kept separate at source, because a contaminated load is usually landfilled in full.

Organic Waste

Food organics from kitchens, canteens and production, collected in a purpose supplied container sized for regular servicing.

Hazardous Waste

Handled by partners licensed for the stream, with disposal documented. Raise it through your account and we arrange the rest.

Medical Waste

Clinical and related waste referred to specialist operators licensed to handle it, with the documentation returned to you.

eWaste

Electronic equipment routed to specialist recovery rather than landfill, referred through the same account as everything else.

Oil

Waste oil collected in a purpose supplied drum and kept separate for recovery, handled under the same account as everything.

Other Waste

Not sure which category yours falls into? Tell us what it is and we will work out who should handle it and how it is priced.

Your schedule should move when your business does

Most collection frequencies are set once at signup and never revisited. Volumes change, seasons change, the business grows or contracts, and the truck keeps arriving on the same day it always has. With UBin you change the schedule yourself, as often as you need. A busy December and a quiet January should not cost the same.

Collections that do not need to happen

A truck sent to empty a half full bin burns the same fuel as one sent to empty a full one. It covers the same distance, idles at the same gate, and puts the same wear on the same roads. The only difference is how much material it carries away.

Multiply that across a fleet running fixed schedules over thousands of commercial sites, week after week, and the avoidable movement becomes significant. Not because anyone is doing anything wrong, but because the schedule was set once and nobody has had a reason to look at it since.

Demand driven collection reduces truck movements without changing a single vehicle, without new technology on the trucks, and without asking any operator to work differently. It simply stops sending them out when they are not needed.

Most recycling does not fail at the sorting facility. It fails at the bin.

A load of commingled recycling with the wrong material in it is frequently rejected and landfilled in full. One contaminated bin can undo an entire collection, and the customer usually never finds out it happened.

The most effective response is unglamorous. Supply the right container for each stream, put it where people will actually use it, and collect the streams separately. Getting the containers right at setup does more for recovery rates than almost any initiative that comes after it.

Specialised waste is handled by partners licensed for the stream, and the disposal is documented.

That distinction matters more than it used to. Businesses are increasingly asked to demonstrate where their waste went, whether by a client’s procurement team, an auditor, or a regulator. An assurance from a contractor is not evidence. A record is.

You cannot reduce what you have not measured, and most businesses have no visibility of their own waste beyond a monthly invoice total.

Every collection through UBin is recorded by site, by stream and by date. Over time that builds a picture of what each part of your operation actually produces. Which site generates the most general waste. Which stream is growing. Where a change to how material is separated would make a measurable difference.

That information does not reduce anything by itself. But it is the thing that has been missing, and without it any waste reduction target is guesswork.

Doing less, better.

Waste is one of the few areas where the environmental answer and the commercial answer are the same. Fewer unnecessary collections cost less and emit less. There is no trade-off to manage and no premium to pay for doing the right thing.

Does your quietest month costs the same as your busiest?

That is how fixed schedules work, and for a business with any seasonality at all it means overpaying for part of the year to avoid overflowing for the rest. Adjusting the frequency yourself, whenever you need to, removes the compromise entirely.

Waste Collection,
Rethought.

Everything in one place.

Manage your collections from any device. See every bin across every site, request a collection when one is ready, adjust your schedule as volumes change, and review what each service cost

How much notice do you need?

A minimum of 48 hours. That window lets us route your collection alongside others in the area rather than sending a truck out for a single bin, which is what keeps the cost down. If your requirements are predictable, a recurring schedule removes the need to think about it at all.

No. You can book collections as you need them, run a recurring schedule, or do both across different bins at the same site. Recurring schedules can be changed by you, whenever your volumes change, as often as you need.

The bins are supplied and delivered at no cost as part of your service. Collection pricing is agreed with each customer, because sites and volumes vary too much for a standard rate to be fair to everyone. Send us your details and we will come back with a quote.

Talk to us and we will change it. Getting the sizing right usually takes a little live data, and a size that suited the business two years ago often does not suit it now. We’ll help you with this process as part of the registration and setup.

Established collection operators who have been audited for compliance with the laws governing waste collection and disposal before being registered on the system. We manage the relationship, the scheduling, the paperwork and the invoicing.

Monthly, with every collection across every site and every waste stream on a single statement. Each line traces back to a specific collection on a specific date.

Yes. Every site sits under one account, with one statement covering all of them and the ability to see volumes and costs site by site.

Routine specialised streams including domestic waste, waste oil and food organics are collected in purpose supplied containers alongside your general waste. Other specialised waste requiring licensed handling is referred to approved specialist partners through the same account.

Report it through your account and we will follow it up with the operator. The service record shows what was and was not collected, so there is no dispute about whether the truck attended.
